Dears,
Greeting,

Today i found my CEAC Status has been changed from AP to Refused with below message :

"A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please follow any instructions provided by the consular officer. If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing. You will receive another adjudication once such processing is complete. Please be advised that the processing time varies and that you will be contacted if additional information is needed. For more information, please visit TRAVEL.STATE.GOV or the website for the Embassy or Consulate at which you made your visa application.
For more information, please visit ****"

Is that normal?
Kindly advice

Thank you.

The message you got is just the standard one displayed for a refused case - So what happened at your interview?

There is a huge flurry of such posts about all forms of visas on another forum. I think maybe consulates have been instructed to use “refused” status rather than AP for such cases. (AP is a technical refusal, but one that can be overcome, and the text you quoted does say “If you were informed by the consular officer that your case was refused for administrative processing, your case will remain refused while undergoing such processing.”)

Dear @Aidyn
The office gave me a white refusal worksheet paper with Section 221(g) with option Additional processing is required we will contact you when this is complete
And i received email to send DS-5535 to them and i did and from interview till 2-3-2020 my case status was AP but today has been changed to Refused
My question is this really refusal or AP ?

Thank you

So is that mean my Case is under AP or what?

Thank you

Asking the same question. It was AP this morning then sometime today it changed to Refused, but the Last update date did not change.

Which is a pain, cause now we'll have to scrape the refusals too, since they might be a hidden AP...

I’m not sure if this is allowed. There is others with the same situation. They say it could be a glitch in the system. The link is

What do you mean you’re not sure if it’s ”allowed”? The technical term for AP is a section 221g refusal. It should be a reversible refusal, but there is nothing technically wrong with the status.

I meant the link. Now I know it isn’t allowed. If you copy and paste the link you can follow myself and others with the same issue.

Confirmation of technical problems with CEAC.

Important Notice:
Technical specialists are continuing to work on the Department of State's consular systems. While most applicants are now able to access this site, those who are still having difficulty should wait at least 24 hours before trying again and visit http://nvc.state.gov/ for instructions. We expect there could be heavy traffic on CEAC over the next several days as applicants attempt to submit their forms and pay their fees online. Thank you for your patience as the Department continues to resolve recent technical problems with our consular systems.

Dear,
After interview the officer gave me Refusal worksheet (white paper) with section 221 (g) whith check to "Additional processing is required we will contact you when this is complete"
And after few days a received email to fill DS 5535 Form for me and all applicant and i sent to US Embassy and my case status was AP till 3-3-2020 has been changed to refused.

"On March 3, 2020, the Department of State made an update to the Consular Electronic Application Center (CEAC) website, our online portal for visa applicants. A visa applicant whose case previously displayed as being in “Administrative Processing” on his or her case status page now displays as being “refused.”

I am not able to post the link to travel.state.gov where this news article lives since the forum thinks I am a spammer if I try - but check out the News section under U.S. Visas (at travel.state.gov) for more info.
