Born in UAE , holding an indian passport

Hi. I wish to know if there is any one in this forum those who were born in UAE holding an indian passport and have been selected for the lottery? I have just applied for the DV2021 as UAE. So was just curious to know. If someone been through the same situation and got through? Please input your valuable details.
Thanks in advance

Thanx for the reply. I understand passport is irrelevant for this purpose. Just curious to hear from people who have been through the same scenario..
Many people have been successful being born in one country and using another passport for DV. Is there something specific about the uae/India combination that worries you?

I think the only thing that worries him/her is the fact that India is actually not eligible to participate in the lottery.

While probably thousands have been approved being born in one and using another country's passport, I have yet to come across as a UAE-born India passport holder applying for a DV.

OP, what was your basis to claim India passport?

AFAIK most children born in UAE of foreign nationals get the foreign national citizenship. I’m not sure it matters why s/he has an Indian passport? For DV, what matters is just being born in an eligible country, not nationality or passport, either at birth or later.

Thanx all for the feedback. Well i think i just need to rephrase my question. Is there any Indian born in UAE, got through the DV lottery.

Bt

But Susie. Have you come accross anyone as such? Plz input your experience..

UAE gets on average a couple of hundred of selectees a year. Judging by general trends, around half of those will actually pursue a green card. The chances of more than a handful ever finding their way to this forum are miniscule, and now you want to further refine by those who might have an Indian passport? I might be more sympathetic if I knew what exactly is troubling you so much about this. I don’t see the point of the question.

Susie. Nothing is troubling me. As India is not eligible, but UAE is eligible, was just curious about the situation and so wished to know if someone has been through this situation and got the lottery. If someone on this forum had similar experience? Thats all. Sorry....

Answered in post #4.

And OP of course is still on course to find out if an applicant's Indian passport matters, when in my years on this forum I've yet to come across anyone in that situation.

OP seems to be highly concerned if the Indian passport could be a hindrance to DV chances.

Maybe OP has heard of a dude called Britsimon. Having the passport of an ineligible country clearly wasn’t an issue for him.

Yep that dude called Britsimon is pretty legendary in some parts for having the passport of an ineligible country.

As Susie has said, the issuing country of your passport is irrelevant. Continuously asking for someone that has the same criteria as your is honestly unnecessary, many people using passports from all manner of banned countries have been successful - there is nothing special about UAE and India

Jerry, I understand your concern. India, Britain, China and a bunch of other countries are not eligible. Yes, by being born in (or even married to a person of an) eligible country you qualify for the diversity scheme. Yes, it is not lost upon me that there's a contradiction in this, because natural Indian born in an eligible country doesn't add to the "diversity" element of the diversity-visa scheme. Still the US will accept it! There's no diversity co-efficient or special racial-diversity logic they follow, it's their longtime set rules which they follow and by those you simply qualify. I know India's special position in the sense that the Indian race and people are over-represented in the US immigration system, but still it won't stop you in this case. Everyone knows that regular immigrant visas other than Diversity (ie. H1-B) are mostly going to India's people, and hence from a logical diversity angle you are not a "diversification". Anyway, you can throw all diversity logic out of the window, and just take advantage of the scheme, because you simply qualify according to the (crazy) rules, as would any other Indian if they happen to be born in in UAE. It's never used as a ground to refuse. There are more important things they'd be looking out for these days, like your character, police records, your financial standing, if you are a risk of becoming burden on the society (public charge), etc. Indian passport/race is not a problem, despite being highly over-represented in US immigration. If you find US good for you, then go for it.
