DV not married but long term Relationship

Hi.. We would like to enter the DV program. Currently we are not married but in a 3 Year long term relationship. We would like to go together, should we enter seperate registrations? if so and only 1 get selected is there a way the other applicant can join on the others Selected applicants DV visa as a spouse ??
 
If you are single when you enter, you must enter as single.
If one of you gets selected and wants to take the other with, you will need to get married.

Okay if we enter as single and get selected and get married before interview stage can it then be changed to add the other as a spouse?
