Citizenship Requirements

2011visa

hi there,

I have another two years to go until I can actually fulfill the 5 year requirement before i can apply for ciztinship however, I think I read it somewhere
that if you go outside the US for more than 6 months within that period you break the continuity of residence or something?
These are my dates when I entered and left the US.
I became a Permanent resident 13 June 2011 (which is the date when I entered the US as a green card holder) then I left
the country in July 24 2011 (which means I was here for a little over a month). I got my geen card thru the lottery so
I needed more time to prepare until I actually moved here, that is the reason I left in the first place.

Now after leaving in July of 2011 I did not come back to the US until 29 March of 2012 (which is about 8 months).
I was in the country for about 5 months. left in October of 2012 and came back in March of 2013 ( this time I out of the US
for less than 6 months). I never left the US since then, which menas I've been here for 18 months now.

What I'm trying to figure out is, when can I actually apply for citizenship? i will fulfill the 5 year requirement in
June of 2016 but does that mean my being absent for 8 months between July of 2011 to March 2012 and for less than 6 months between October 2012 to March 2013 are going to affect
citizenship requirements?

to make it more simple these are my dates:

Became permanent resident on 13 June 2011
Left the US on 24 July 2011
back to the US on 29 March 2012
Left the US on 02 October 2012
back to the US on 29 March 2013 (I've been here ever since)

Thank you in advance guys

Your 8-month stay outside the US broke continuous residence. If you had spent more time in the US before going away for 8 months, and established some residential ties (e.g. US job, leased apartment/bought house) you might have been able to use those facts (with supporting evidence) overcome the break in residence.

Having broken continuous residence, you have to wait 4 years and 1 day after the end of the last long trip to become eligible, which would be 30th March 2016, but you also need 5 years as a green card holder, so that would mean 13th June 2016.

Thank you very much for your reply. For some reason I thought I was going to have to wait until 2017 sometime, so this is great news for me. Thanks again.
