Getting simultaneously DV and H1B

Hello, all.

I won DV-2014, but my case number is pretty high (almost 50K). In case I'm not invited to interview in aug-sep 2014 I'm trying to find job and get H1B visa. I have some questions - please help me to realize all risks if they are exist.

If I'll find a sponsor for H1B visa and in april 2014 he'll start process of making H1B for me. For instance, in July 2014 I go on interview and get H1B visa. Later, in august 2014 I'm invited for GC interview (DV-2014)...
Here is a lot of questions:
1. Will I have any problems of getting GC visa when I already have H1B? Can I be refused in getting GC or this is a normal situation?
2. Will embassy start cancelation process of H1B visa before GC visa or they both simultaneously are acceptable?
3. Will I be in some black list for making two visas simultaneously?
4. I suppose if I only tell to H1B sponsor about my DV situation - it'll lose interest on me. Am I right?

May I start H1B processing this year or better way is just to wait until sep-2014 and if my interview won't happen than start H1B process in the next year? Experienced people, please help me with your knowledges about my case. :o

FYI I am waiting for my DV interview and have just received an H1-B. You don't mention which region you are in - Europe or AF. 50k is high for Europe and low for AF. I'm going to assume EU (because you mention you think the number is high).

1. Normal situation. If you were approved for the H1-B you would not be able to start work until Oct 1. So by that time you will either have your GC (and will therefore enter USA with that) or you will have lost out on the GC. The DV process must complete by Sept 30th.
2. You can be applying for both at the same time. They won't stop one or the other. I would guess that you would be approved on the H1-B before your DV interview (which would be in September if at all. So, you would have the H1 ready to enter the USA and activate, but you could replace that with the GC if you get it.
3. No. H1-B is a dual intent visa - that means you are allowed to apply for the H1-B as a non immigrant application and also demonstrate immigrant intent by applying for the DV.
4. If they want your skillsets bad enough they should still want you. However, as a GC holder you could then work for anyone else so no problem either way.

I would strongly recommend you start the H1 path. If your region is EU your number is very high and hjas only a small chance of getting current (in my opinion). So, if you can get a job and H1 and you want to be in the States - then go for the H1 without delay. You can always do a work based GC application later on.

Britsimon, thank you a lot for this answer. You are right - I'm from EU.
So I'll try to get H1B visa while my case number is not current.

If after I'll got GC and decide not to go to H1B sponsor will I have any troubles? I understand that it's not good manner - sponsor will lose time and money, but anyway?
So it looks like I better shouldn't tell to H1B sponsor about my DV won?

On balance I don't think you should mention the DV win. It will just confuse things - and your number is in a very risky range....
