Any ramifications for owing taxes ?

I am about to put in my application for citizenship. My only drawback is that, I owe taxes. I hope to start paying the tax sometime next year, Would the fact that i owe tax stop my application process? If I do not disclose the information on my application would they find out? I know i cannot run away from the tax man and intend to pay but financially I cannot handle it at this time.What are the ramifications of not disclosing that info in my application at this time?
 
They won't approve your case with overdue taxes unless you have made an agreement with the IRS to pay the tax in regular installments, and you have been making the payments. So you'll have to delay your citizenship application until you either pay off the entire tax bill or make that agreement with the IRS and start paying according to the agreement.
 
Make a payment plan with the IRS, and then you should be OK. If you just haven't paid and "plan" to pay, that ain't going to work.

If it is Income Tax then that tax is not constitutional and there is no law even requiring you to file 1040. What is sad is the fact that in order to obtain citizenship, you have to be compliant with the IRS. Otherwise such compliance is voluntary :cool:
