Dear All, Thanks for the help. Really this is great forum for DV lottery Help. My Case number is like this
2014AS000002XX6 (My Country DV lottery Quota for 2014 is 6 thousand +, and my number is 2 thousand +)
I checked my status few weeks before, once I was going to apply for 2015, I saw check your status of DV 2014, so I checked with my 2014 Confirmation number and I am lucky to see Case Number with Offer Letter. I called on same day to Kentucky number and gave my case number, they told me follow instruction on the website (that is step 2 and three - send the education check documents and filled form) Which I have not done due to following reason which I want to as here in this forum.
My country most of DV offered people go to consultancy and process through them (sending documents, correspondence, idea etc with some fee) Shall I do the same or do myself ( since I am educated and can handle myself), furthermore, it is not mentioned anywhere in DV official site that the document they need can be sent scan copy or need hard copy? When I consulted some consultancy in my country, each are asking more documents (like my father, mother, wife's father, wife's mother, etc details) which are not mentioned on DV official site?
Up now in my life I have lived and worked almost 4-5 countries more than (12 months) do I need police clearance from all? Some countries I left almost 10 years before and it is very hard to get such document due to political problem there. What is solution in that case? I am married with one kid now. Kid birth was after the DV application and before DV section, what shall I do for my son to include in DV? Since my baby is small, I would like to leave my wife and kid for at least one and half year in my country and I go US and settle myself first and called them later, is it possible? If yes, how shall I proceed?
What will be the cost of over all process and how much money I have to bring USA for first time? Will I have to search job myself in USA after arrival there or government system will find job in my area where ever in US they want? Do I have choice and work to USA anywhere I like? Can I process for job online from now, showing company that I will get my DV visa soon.. what is chances of getting job?
Congratulations and well done for getting the most amount of questions into one post that I have ever seen. Those consultants must really earn their money (are you from Nepal as a wild guess?).
1. Don't use a consultant - there is no advantage if you are able to read the instructions and you can ask questions here.
2. You do not send any documents such as birth certificate (except for the new child as I will explain). You will complete and send two forms for your self and one for each derivative (your wife and child). The rest of your forms will be presented at the interview.
3. You must try and get a police report from each country where it says to do so on the reciprocity tables - which are here
http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_3272.html
In countries where the record keeping and polical situation is bad there may be some notes on the country page that excuses the police record. Just follow the instructions carefully.
4. For the child you will send a copy of the birth certificate along with a completed 230 form for the child when you send your forms to KCC. Your son will then be included in the DV process and will get a Green Card.
5. You should plan to enter the US as a family and then for your wife and child to return for a while. If you plan for them to be gone more than 12 months you should apply for a permit for them to return - however, if they come for a visit or two within the 12 months that won't be needed.
6. The costs are fairly high. Each applicant (so each one of you) will pay around $300 for the processing, plus other fees for the medical and police certificate fees, and then when you get to the US you will pay around $200 for the Green card itself. So the fees could be around $3000 for the family.
7. During the DV process you need to show that you will be able to support yourself. That can be shown in a number of ways but assuming you have no one in the US to help you then you would need to show that you have around $20,000 available to finance your move. I would guess you would need something like that amount of money to pay for flights, support yourselves and so on.
8. Yes you will have to search for a job yourself and will get no help from the government in doing that .
9. Yes you can live and work anywhere in the US - just be aware that different areas have different cost of living etc.
10. You could look for a job now but unless you are well qualified in a good profession you will get little if any response. Most people have to actually go there and then find a job - and be aware it often takes a while to find something. Your chances of finding work depend on your skills and experience. Generally though new immigrants find themselves doing something below their normal level for a while - which pays the bills until they get work they are happier with.
