Hi, Guys:

Anyone have similar experience and may know how long it take for the USCIS to get a response from US overseas Embassy or consulate?

I filed my N-400, and passed interview on July 22, 2013. ( a decision cannot be made. )

And today, I talked to USCIS officer through inforpass, and they told me that they are waiting for a response from the US overseas consulate.

I was a political asylum, and was detained by the police for several months, and released free of charge.
I did submitted all my release document and even newspaper that reported my innocent case.

Now i am waiting for the US overseas consulate's response, anyone have similar experience, and may know how long it take for a overseas US consulate to response?

thank you

There are verifying the paper you submitted.......basically, they think you are lying....
the verifying in fact that the newspaper did publish an article about you......

if this is true, you should be fine..

thank you for your reply.

The newspaper report was true. I also submitted the report when I applied asylum about 10 years ago.
And even NYT had an article about my case.

My question is, do you know how long it take for the US embassy to response USCIS's request or verification request?

thank you.

Hi USC2013

thank you for your reply.

i called USCIS and a lady told me that they had send out a RIC.
The RIC maybe sent to the US oversea embassy or consulate.

Anyone know what RIC is?

thank you.

Did you speak to a level 2 officer after calling the 1-800 number or the local office (not sure if we can)?

No. I called USCIS two times, and only a lady answered the phone, no opportunity to speak with a level 2 officer.

Same as in the San Jose field office.

Anyone know whether this is part of a name check or FBI backgroud check?

Your interview was in July, and USCIS has 120 days after the interview to make a decision, so they need to make that decision by November or you can file 1447(b).

thank you.

file 1447(b) will cost a lot attorney fee.

I do not know why the IO make it so hard for me. Maybe I am not lucky.

Anyone have similar experience?

Update:

Got an email notification "On August 30, 2013, we received your response to our request for evidence. This case is being processed at our SAN JOSE, CA location."

Anyone know, how long it take for them to make a decision?

thank you
