Police Certificate issue

Hi All,
my interview will be on August, i have sent a request to the country where i have studied and finished my college ( 17 years before ) through their embassy in the country where i am living currently.
but i am so afraid that the response could get some delay and the interview day come before the certificate arrive.

what do you think if i go to the interview without that certificate ? at the interview did they need as a must that certificate for that old stay ? whilst i have the police certificate from the country where i am living now.

Thanks

You'll need the certificate as per their requirements, but if you haven't received it by the date of the interview you can attend the interview and send it through to the embassy when you get it, and they will finish processing the visa once it's received. However with the interview in August you don't have a lot of time for all this, as it must all be processed by 30 September or you won't get your visa.

Edit: in case anyone is wondering why I say this with such authority, it's because our police certificates hadn't arrived by our interview date and this is what we did.

As per SusieQQQ, you will need a police certificate from that country.

You are short of time because you only have 3 weeks of July, the whole of August and the whole of September left = about nine weeks without the weekends with September 30th being your deadline.

Either you get the certificate before then or you're out of luck.

Case No - DV2013AF0007XXXX (applied the first time and got it the first time - lucky me!)
Entry Checked - 1st May 2012
Forms Sent To KCC - 10th May 2012
Received By KCC - 12th May 2012
Confirmation From KCC - 25th May 2012 after I sent them an email
2nd NL - 14th June 2013
Police Clearance (TZ) - 13th June 2013
Police Clearance (UK) - 21st June 2013
Medicals - Completed 24th June 2013
Interview - Wednesday, August 7th 2013 @ 8am - US Embassy Tanzania
Visa Pick up - Hopefully August 11th
Departure Date - August 17th 2013
Port of Entry - Washington Dulles

Hello All
I am in a bad mood and really under stress, our interview is after 11 days, and my police clearance still not arrived !
medical and all other documents are ready, including the current living country police clearance.

i am start thinking if i didn't get it, so can my family ( wife and 2 kids ) get the visas ? my wife is the DV winner, so if i couldn't submit my police clearance, at least i dont want to be the reason they dont have their visas.

note : i am waiting my police clearance certificate from a countries of the third world countries where the bureaucracy and routine had born, for that i am really scary that it will take more long time :(

please advice if my family can get the visas if i fail ? or it must to pass all of us ?

thanks

Your family cannot get their visas until you have yours. If you attend the interview without the police cert your case will probably be put on AP waiting for the police certificate to supply when you get it (I think SusieQQQ had that situation). Obviously it goes without saying - do ALL you can to get the police cert. You MUST complete the process by the end of September otherwise you will lose your chance.

Sorry - not trying to add to your stress, just want to be clear...

Fingers crossed for you.

See my previous post re a delay not being a major issue. And no, you not having your PC should not prevent the other visas being issued, they will probably ask if you want the others issued first and yours later,or to wait and issue all together. Just be aware that each visa when issued has a 6-month expiry, something to take into account if different visa expiry dates could cause issues eg if the rest of your family may have to travel before you do to prevent their visas expiring. (You don't all have to enter together though, the only proviso is that the principal applicant must enter the US with or before the rest of the family.)

Edit: just realised this is DV2013. So getting the PC before end-September is vital if you want to immigrate with the rest of your family. Is there no agency in the country concerned you can use to get it faster?

Britsimon, his wife is the principal applicant, so they can get their visa without him getting his.

The clue being "my wife is the DV winner". I've got such a crappy cold after coming back from Greece last week. I shouldn't be operating heavy machinery or answering people in this forum....

Sorry Reeno - just ignore all I said!

Thanks Susie.

Thanks Guys, and get well soon Britsimon

i have checked the http://travel.state.gov and i found this interested issue @ Police Records from the country that i am waiting its PC,
[ There are no procedures to obtain these certificates through xxxx embassies in foreign countries ]

So, is that mean that i am not must requested to bring the PC from that country ? its not my home country, i just studied there for 4 years.
the instruction on the website said that the PC is Available to resident citizens and foreigners through the the police authority , so i am not currently a resident over there.

when i request the PC from the embassy, they told me ok fine fill the form, and i do, so 65 days until now no respond.

so is what have mentioned in the http://travel.state.gov is exempting me to have the PC from such country ?

thanks in advance

Reeno, it sounds like they know it is a problem to get PCs from that country then, but it may be worth contacting the embassy of your interview to ask them. Might save you a few gray hairs over the next couple of weeks.
