Hi friends,

I need someone's help.

I hope everyone is doing well. I have a question regarding the expiry date of police report. I have been in two countries. I have applied for police reports in both countries, I have already got all of them (including Australia where currently I live). I born in Sri Lanka and left Sri Lanka in 2006 when I was 22 years old. In this situation, will US Embassy still consider the expiry date of Sri Lankan police report? (Please Note: No Police Report has expiry date) Because I have not been living in Sri Lanka last 7 years. I believe the expiry date of police report is applicable (should be considered) for Australia where currently I live.

Please advice.

Thanks

Kuna

Good question. I was wondering the same myself. I got my report last year. In your case, since you are doing CP, you can check the US consulate web site for information. Some consulates want the report for the current country you live in gotten in the last 12months and for any other countries you lived in previously gotten at a time that covers your time there, so really no expiration date. In my case though (I am doing aos) I could not find any information from uscis if there is an expiration date that they consider. If anybody can share experience I'd appreciate.

Hi AOS13,
Thanks for your reply! It gives me some information. Hopefully someone will give a solid answer.

Cheers!

I know you've been worried about this for a loooong time!

Where do you plan to do CP, in SL or in Aus?
Did you email/call and ask them for the embassy specific guideline on this? That's the best way to deal with it.

Following give some embassy specific guidelines, but CMB is not there.
If you take India-New Delhi as a basis, then they say that for those who are now both in and out of India, the validity is 1 yr from the issue date.

Hope this helps.
