Timing

Folks - I cannot believe that it has been over 4 years since I got my GC. By the time I become a USC, it will be 23 yrs in this country. Anyhow, I am getting excited about it and want to understand what I can expect. My CG date in mid-June 2008, so I assume that I can apply mid-April next year (exact date will be determined of course). How long will the process take for me and my wife from start to finish, assuming no unexpected issues? We live in MD suburbs of Washington DC. And where would we be applying?

You can check the current processing times online at the USCIS site.

When I applied in May it projected an approximate 5 month wait, and I was completed in 4 months.
