Hi All,

My parents are both US citizens (both above 65 years old) and they are thinking of applying for my family (me, my husband and 2 kids) to get a US green card.

I know that the waiting list is about 10 years, however recently I heard that there are faster ways to do it .. 2 years or so ..
Is that true ...

Also is it worth for both of them to apply for me .. or one is enough?

And finally is better to use a lawyer to apply?

Thanks,

There are faster ways to do it, but not based on your parents sponsoring your green card. You would have to choose another route such as:

- Employer sponsorship
- Investor green card (if you have at least half a million dollars)
- Diversity Lottery
- If either parent was a US citizen when you were born, you might be able to claim citizenship based on that. But that's only for you not the rest of your family.

If your parents are applying for you, it is sufficient for only one to file for you, but it is better to have both filing so in case something bad happens with one of them (after all, they will be into their 70s before the green card process is complete) you can still continue with the other.
