Hello everybody, I have two questions :

1- my case number is 2013AF00070*** which seems to be a high case number, i want to know please , when the interview should be for me next year based on previous years ?

2- What if I got married this year, what should I do to get my future wife with me in the interview ? would be better to do not do this step in order to do not disturbe my chances for interview ?

@Princedriss,congrats & welcome to the DV2013 selectees club:cool:

1)For DV 2k7,u would've u would have been current in Aug.
For DV 2k8,u would've lost out,Sept cut-off was 64,300.
For DV 2k9 to 2k10,u would have been current in Sept.
For DV 2k11,u would've been current in August.
For DV 2k12,u would've been current in June.
Thus given how the numbers r going,we might be current in June or earlier(but I tend to favor earlier:cool:)

2)If u r currently single & have already sent ur forms(DS-230 + DSP-122),when u marry,u will have to send KCC additional forms(extra DS-230) reflecting ur change of status.


Generally,it would be easier to go in single rather than married given relationship matters wont be raised;but then again,is the DV worth putting off ur marriage coz if u go alone,u can pick her up after some 5years(if am not wrong or even longer...r u willing to w8????No guts,no glory).

If u do get married & include her in ur application,then prepare well for ur interview(u have almost a year to get ur affairs in order).

Get married and then add your wife to the forms. Not including or including her will not affect your chances of getting the green card. You have atleast 6 to 7 months to send forms before your case even approaches the current status going by past years.

Once you get the green card and settle in the states it will take at least 2 years before she can get her green card as you will have to sponsor her. As per department of state, cases for spouses sponsored by permanent residents are on priority date march 2010. Meaning those who applied in March 2010 can start processing their applications.

Thank you my bro, I just know from you that she will not get the GC once we get to the US, she has to wait 2 years ? that means she wont be able to profit from the benefit of instate university fees instead outofstate high cost of education ? and also she cant work .?
 
I am not saying she will not get GC. Get married and send forms listing her as spouse so as to pursue using the dv lottery route.This is the easiest route to take. If the relationship and marriage is genuine, you should have no issues answering the consular questions during interview.

Without the GC she will not be able to travel with you, unless she already has a valid visa. All the other issues on work and school are moot.

Trying to get GC for her once you are in the US , involves a process that will take at least 2-3 years. You have to sponsor her and wait for at least 2 years for the application to be current.

Were she to apply for any non immigrant visa to join you while you are in the US, it will be denied as the consular officials state that she has dual intent.
 
Thank you guys for your answer, but it seems that i have really high CN ! am afraid that it will happen like in 2008, means they will stop at 63000 :(
 
Getting married or not will not change when your case will be current. I may be missing your point so please explain how your situation will change this as you will singly or jointly go through the same process.

This is wrong information....

If you do get married and include your wife as spouse for the diversity visa application, and given your case is approved then both of you will get a green card. she will have a green card just like yours. She will be able to go to the university and pay IN STATE tuition fees instead of international fees. She will be able to work and live in the USA independently once she gets her GC which is about a month after arrival. Even if you get a divorce 1 day after arriving in USA. This is the reason why DV winners who get married are put under extra scrutiny from interview officers. The officers know that once the DV visa is granted and the DV winner arrive in usa their GC will be the permanent 10 year GC. So each one of you and your wife will have an independent permanent 10 year GC with NO restrictions.

Forget about that 2 year thing that the other person mentioned. Your case is a DV case . That 2 year restricted green card applies only when a US citizen petition to get their spouse permanent residency GC.
 
As44xxx you misunderstood my point on the wait time. If you read my responses you will see that i was referring to permanent resident sponsoring a spouse wait time. I attempted to clarify what I meant by two year in subsequent posts but Prince may have misunderstood me.

For his wife to get those benefits she will need to have a GC.

All said and done Prince is better off going the dv lottery route with his future wife. Yes they will be subject to increased scrutiny from the interviewing officer as you mentioned.
