Getting marriage registered in India..

I am a naturalized US citizen getting married in India to an Indian citizen in April 2012. Several questions:

1. If the religious ceremony doesn't count as a legal marriage, after it am I married or not? I know a registered marriage is need for the Visa for a spouse, but then could I still use fiancee K1 Visa?

2. It seems like there are residency requirements to get the marriage registered. You have to be in India 30 days before and after the wedding. If so, that would not be possible..

Any comments would be appreciated..

Thanks

You should do I 130, and CP. After the relegious cermony, take 2 witnesses and go to the registration office, they dont know if you are in india for 1 day or 1mounth. so just have a wedding invitation card and and a letter from the religeous place wher you had the cermony and show them at the registration office, you will all be set. dont worry too much , any thing is possible in India.
