I485 filling question

Hi Hope some one can help with this,
I have couple questions filling I 485 application
1)If there is no answer for a question,do I have to put N/A or just leave it blank?
2)If applicant is on a visitng visa,application ask for current visa status,do I have to write Visitor or B1/B2

1. According to the directions it says N/A, but I have also left fields blank and there hasn't been any issues. My wife doesn't have a middle name and as a result we left the middle name box blank and had no issues. I was worried if we put down N/A as a middle name then they would say the name is First N/A Last. We don't have any kids and left the part asking about kids blank. The officer at our interview asked about kids and we said that we didn't have any. The officer put a x through the section in red ink and wrote NONE.

2. B1/B2 (or whatever the status that is on the person's I-94 in their passport)
