i am considering going with an attorney to fix my wife's status through marriage and she told me that the first thing is to send in the form I130 but i have read that i can file form I130 and I485 together idk if i can do that through the attorney or is it just online.

thanks

You need to provide us with more information about you to be able to direct you. You can do both simultaneously also know as concurrent filing. If you're ready to read up on the process and your wife has no complicating issues, you can choose to do it yourself instead of paying an attorney. Even if you're getting an attorney, I would advise you read up on the process itself as much as possible because there are quite a few people who have gotten into problems due to incompetent/careless attorneys missing stuff.

You can file both I-130 and I-485 only if you are a US citizen, your wife is currently in the US and was properly admitted into US (she has an I-94 issued at the border).
For straight forward cases, an attorney is generally not required. You can use resources available on this forum to help you file.
