A few questions before my interview on July 27th

I sent in my N-400 back in February and my Interview date is July 27th at the Fairfax Office. I am super excited to get this over with, but I have a few questions before my interview.

Back in Feb when I applied I was living in Stafford, VA and now I live in Lorton, VA. The office for the interview would be the same for either address and I have been getting the mail from USCIS in Stafford since my mother-in-law still lives at that address. Do I need to update this address (add Lorton) on the N-400 form and bring it with me to the interview or not, and will it be an issue that I didn’t tell them I changed addresses during the citizenship process?
Also, if during my test they ask me who is my current House Rep, should I say the one from Stafford's district or the one from Lorton's district or both and tell them my situation?

I have never filed taxes on my own. I was either claimed as a dependent by my parents and after I got married my husband filed for us jointly. Do I need to bring copies of all these tax papers for the last 3 or 5 years? If yes, what exactly do I need to bring?

Traffic tickets. I know there is a whole thread on traffic tickets. I have three tickets which were less than $500 fine. I didn’t write these down on the N-400 because I didn’t think it was necessary. Later I realized I just didn’t need proof that they were resolved, but still had to write them down on the n-400. I printed out copies from the counties’ website for these three tickets that prove they were paid for, but they are not certified copies. If the IO asks me whether I ever got cited I will tell him/her the truth and I plan to give these copies and let them know that I misunderstood whether I had to write them down or not. Should that be okay?

Any help/info is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

At the time of the interview, after the IO has administered you an oath (that you will speak the truth.) the entire N400 would be reviewed again with you.

1. You can update the officer on the address correction.
2. As long as you have been filing taxes for last 5 years and can account for the same - nothing to worry about. (Not filing is a different matter and will trigger scrutiny. )
3. traffic tx less than $500 are not an issue, and you can provide clarity when the IO reviews that Question/section again with you in the interview.

Where do you put traffic tickets information on N-400? I don't recall there is a section for that.

i think it just asks if you've ever been cited or arrested. and technically every time you get a ticket you are "Arrested".. doesn't necessarily mean you were handcuffed or whatever.

so i guess i should've checked "yes" i have been cited/arrested, but i said no because i didnt know the meaning of the word before and didn't read the instructions correctly.

I'm not arguing but if you read it in English, arrested is different from get ticketed. They can't be the same.

there is a whole thread on traffic tickets if you would like to read it.
on one of my "proof of payment" copies that i printed from the county website, it says "arrest date". i was never arrested. it was a speeding ticket.

Tip regarding certified copies......contact gdcmail@fairfaxcounty.gov they will send you what you need....Im going to go the do not ask do not tell route with the traffic tickets

i'm doing the same..but if they do ask me i don't want to lie and say no, so i'm bringing the print out copies. i dont think i will bring certified copies since i shouldn't even have to bring any proof for anything under $500

Yes definately do not lie under oath... As for certified copies just take them just incase a knucklehead IO insists on seeing them even when you pull out the policy and point at the rule........theyve been horror stories about that, im going in over prepared...........good luck!

when you say "account for" what does that mean? is there anything I should bring? I have the income tax return papers from the tax preparer but they're 30 pages for each year. is that what I need to bring or just certain pages?

you need to take tax transcripts which can be ordered from the IRS online. they are free, but take about a week to get.

get both account and return transcripts. Get them for all the years you can , which i think is the last 3 years.

You can file a request with IRS for - Request for Transcript of Tax Return by submitting Form 4506-T, and it does take 10 days to get the Copy of your returns back.
Other option is to call them @ 1-800-829-1040. ( The Form 4506-T is good only for Fedral taxes, and will cover max 4 years - current/previous 3).

Even if not specifically asked for proof of taxes being filed/paid yearly, going into a N400 interview it is recommended to carry the copies of taxes filed ( should it come up).
If you donot have time to request Transcripts with IRS, just take what you have available - tax prepared copies. Trust me, the IO will have prior information on his system on those who have not been filing, and may probe deeper.
