Hi ALL,

I am getting married on july 4th in india and coming back on 6th july..I am going to apply for greencard for my wife asap once i reach back to US. I went through the I-130 instructions and it seems like they need a affidavit to support bonafide marriage...I have done my engagement function (around 150 people) in may 22nd....Is it okay if i get an affidavit from my relatives back in india who attended both my marriage and engagement function and get it notorized from india itself..is there any requirement like, the person who makes the affidavit should be a us citizen or greencard holder?....could anyone please give me an idea of how an affidavit will look like in my case...

thanks in advance for your help

i mean the affidavit to evidence that support long lasting relationship between us not the financial support!!! i thnk u misunderstood my question

no i am not
I hope you understand that there is a 3 year wait for spouses of permanent residents to get a green card.
The marriage certificate must be issued by a registrar of marriages in India. Contact the nearest village panchayat or city corporation for registering your marriage after your marriage ceremonies. Both you and your spouse will have to make a personal appearance at the registrar's office.

IN addition to marriage certificate, you should submit affidavits. See instructions for I-130, page 3 under "What Documents Do You Need to Prove Family Relationship?" at http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-130instr.pdf
