Hi all,

Am new to this whole process. Getting married in August- am currently on an F1 visa and marrying a US Citizen. If I am looking in the right place, my I-20 is good until 8/2012 (it says student is expected to start no sooner than 8/2010 and have their studies completed by 8/2012- am I looking in the right place??)

I think we're going to file all the forms ourselves, but wanted to know if you would suggest going to a lawyer beforehand to make sure we've completed the forms correctly.

Thanks,

Peter

If you have money go through a laywer. If not, it is easy ,you can always get help here. Every one will help you

Entirely or just in part?

Thanks. I agree, if I had money I'd do it all through a lawyer.

But my question concerned going through a lawyer for checking up- do you think it is a good idea to do that?

I agree with you concerning that it is easy- however, the one drawback is that USCIS is so picky that 1 mistake and you're doomed. Right?

if you fing a laywer who will gothrough the application for a nominal fee , it would be great.

Your current I-20 is valid until 8/2012. If I am not mistaken you are given a grace period to leave the country after your studies are done, I think it is 60 days.

Basically you would still be in-status as long as you are in school. A majority of people on this form say no to drop out of school once you file the paperwork for the GC and to wait till after it is approved if there is a reason to drop out of school.
