expired green card

My green card has been expired for a year, I already filed for a renewal I-90, I made an appointment to ask for a temporary stamp. Uscis said to get it stamped and that should be sufficient for employment eligibility purposes is this correct? Can they deny me an extension? Will they stamp my card?

USCIS will stamp your passport, not your expired card. The stamp on your passport will be enough for proving employment eligibility.
If you are clean (no criminal records), they won't deny your renewal application.

How long have had your green card?

If you have a Social Security card without the employment restriction, for employment eligibility purposes you can combine that with a driver's license or state ID, without having to show the GC.

But to answer your question, yes the temporary I-551 stamped in your passport will be sufficient for employment purposes, as long as the stamp and the passport are unexpired.

I have been a resident since 1992, I don't have a passport should I get one? It would be mx one since I'm a permanent resident. I have social security card no restrictions and a DL,will they stamp my card? I need it to comply with form I-9 employment eligibility verification. I was offered and accepted a job with the state and I don't want to loose it, need help...

Yes, complete the I-9 employment verification form. The notice of action from the I-90 can be attached to the state employment application form, as proof that you applied for a new green card, but the stamp I-551 is proof of employment eligibility. Why didn't you apply for US citizenship all these years? If you country accept dual citizenship, would recommend that you apply for citizenship, you won't have to renew US citizenship, but the green card requires renewing every 10 years or so. I understand that the GOP have a proposal in which they are going to required green card holders to pay GC maintenance fees, $50 a year to help reduce the deficit...lo!!!!

They will stamp my card or do I need to get a. passport? Will tha be done that same day of my appointment made thru info paas. Or will that take, more visits to Uscis?

They will stamp your passort not a card. How can they stamp your card. If you do not have a valid passport (it apperars that way from your posts here), then you will have to get valid passport.

I believe that you can use an expired passport to get the I-551 stamp as proof of legal permanent resident. IF you don't have a passport, head to your country's consulate and apply for one pronto. If you can get an emergency passport, then get one while applying for a long-term one, I know in some countries, a person can get an emergency passport in a day or two. It appears as if the job with the state is "now moment", plus getting an info pass could take couple of days depending on your DO.

YOu don't need a passport to get a temporary I-551 stamp. In the absence of a passport, USCIS will stamp it on piece of paper with your photo on it.

This is a first for me, USCIS stamping on a piece of paper with the OP picture on it. Do you have a memo implying this from USCIS?

No. But since you have an unrestricted Social Security card and a DL, use those for the employment paperwork. You don't need a GC or a stamp in your passport or an I-90 receipt when you have the unrestricted Social Security card + DL.
