Request for Evidence Help - Post Interview

Hi all,

I am a sponsor for my wife who is applying for an adjustment of status (student visa -> marriage green card). We were married in April 2010; we don't have much in terms of finances (both students) so we had a ceremony at City Hall with a couple of friends.

We applied later the same April and everything seemed to be going smoothly. We had our interview recently but we were told we needed to supply more evidence.

From what we could tell, the sticky part of our case was that we do not have much in terms of "joint" paperwork, including no joint bank accounts, and most notably NO co-signed lease on our apartment. (We've been living together since September '09 and both get mail, etc). I am the only one on our lease.

We were told we should bring in something from our rental company (we have emails saying that my wife was not approved but nothing official), but since she is not on the lease they will not provide an official letter saying that we have lived together for this time (she writes me a check and I send the total amount to the rental company).

We only have a couple more weeks until we have to submit any additional evidence... any thoughts or advice on how we might be able to proceed or anything else that might be useful?

Thanks in advance.

You should have put your wife on the lease, car or health insurance. Plus, you could have opened a joint checking account, because your case raises suspicion. You applied immediately after getting married, plus you have no proof of joint marital assets? So, you need to get working, this site has tons of information which has been acceptable to USCIS. If she writes you a check for the rent, then you will have problems being approved....smells fraud...

Al:

You're right, we have a lot of work to do. There are many could haves/should haves you raise, but that time has passed unfortunately.

In the meantime we are compiling as much as we can regarding our shared address (bank statements, credit card statments, additional affidavits, etc).

According to the ppw we received we actually have a specific time/appointment for a "drop off"... I think we were in too much shock to ask at the time but does anyone know if this means that we will get a reevaluation on the spot or is that truly a "drop off" where we will then have to wait for further review?
