I need to find out the exact date a parent became a US citizen. Supposedly in the late 40's to early 50's.
How can I find this out quickly?

If you know the naturalization certificate number or Alien registration you can request this info from USCIS. You can also request information in the passport file from US state department if the parent ever applied for a passport.

If your parent doesn't provide the documents to show it, you can't find it out quickly. It will take some work and time.

But maybe you don't need to know the exact date; if this is about derived or acquired citizenship, you just need to know if they got US citizenship before you turned 18 or before you were born. If they had a US passport issued before your 18th birthday or before your birth, you'll know they got citizenship on or before the passport issue date.

Actually, the date is important as it is crucial in order for me to apply for Canadian citizenship. Her US citizenship could not have been granted prior to 1947.

So prior to 1947 they stripped Canadian citizenship from people who became US citizens? And you need to find out if your parent still had Canadian citizenship on some specific date, so you can derive Canadian citizenship from her?

So your mother has passed away long ago, which is why she can't help you, and her naturalization certificate and passport have been destroyed and you don't know her A#? You're probably going to have to hire a private investigator to figure this one out.
