Retiring to the Philippines

I'm planning on going back home to the Philippines to retire soon. Do I need to maintain my permanent resident status when I file for Social Security pension benefits when I turn 62 years old? I have already fulfilled the required 40 contributions for pensions.

The OP is not asking for the SS in the Philippines, but in the USA.

The OP should ask this question with the SS in the USA.
