Benchmarking Case Number Progress for AF Region (DV-2008-2010)

If anyone's like me they are nervous about their high case number not making it (mine is AF0005****). I was looking at previous year's bulletins to get a sense of my chances, then I found the table below on another site (I couldn't post the table and keep the formating so I had to use dashes).

It looks like anyone over case no. 65,000 in the Africa region may be too high but the good news is that the case numbers reached were the highest ever for DV-2009, and possible DV-2010, becasue of the recession. Not too many people can afford the process.

I will add new cut-off numbers as they are posted.

Hi SADK2,

Which country are you from? I am from Tanzania, my number is also 5xxxx.

I have this file attached (posted in another thread I have, don't know if it is the same one you saw?), which may prove useful to anyone tracking African number progress (although it does not break out the specific countries which have their own schedule).

Hope it proves useful.

Cheers.

Thank you, TZ-Bongo. I am from Uganda but already live in the US. The spreadsheet you attached just shows the number of poeple who've won and not yet obtained greencards or does it show the number of greencards that have been given out to date?

Thanks again for the info.

Sylvia

Hi,

Both - it has the number of 'winners' per year (as in the number of people sent the 1st notification letter that they have won and can take their case further) and also the number of visas issued each year under the DV program to people claiming Tanzania as their birthplace.

Good luck, hope things move nicely this month.

Thanks.

Thank you! I see you have a similar CN as me. Mine is AF00053XXX - we will likely receive 2nd letters in May/June for interviews in July/August. Good luck to you too :)

The April bulletin is out early. We are now a whole month ahead of last year and two months ahead of 2008! I wonder why they were able to release the bulletin early.

Hi,

In previous months they used to release it by about the 10th of the month - I have seen a couple of recent sites which say that it is now released on the 15th of each month so you are right it was a little early, but by only one working day. I would imagine they release it once they have all the data they need to make a decision on numbers.

Two people, both based in the States have told me that it would take a very brave person to emigrate to the USA given the current economic climate - here in Tanzania, things have been steady through all this turmoil and I know far more people who are returning to Tanzania than going the other way. So, maybe this thought affects many potential immigrants, and less people are following through on their visas simply because life here seems preferable?

Of course, this is only what I think - but it is true for us in that my wife is not 100% convinced that we should go should we get the visas. Ultimately though, we have agreed that we will make the move only for our children because they deserve the opportunity to grow up in what I believe to be a fabulous country (admittedly with it's fair share of problems!).

Hello guys I am full confident that all of you will have a big chance for interview and I think all of you will win ( I am sure) Africa so lucky this year, I am from Asia with case number 29xxx and not interview yet :( if I am in Africa I will make it earlier, any way I think all of us will make it, hope you all luck guys :)

Well, good luck to you too...let's hope everyone contributing to this very helpful forum pull through...it's the least we all deserve :)

SADK2,

You will be current in July from all indications.

We could possibly make better prediction if we know the 2nd digit of his/her CN after the AF0005*

ammeck,

You are wright, i presumed that the case number was 50,*** - i think we should know for better prediction.

Thanks for spotting it out.
