Back in the year 2000 (when I was on H1B non-immigrant status), I was returning to the USA after a business trip. At the time I was working for an Indian employer (XYZ, based in TX) and deputed at their client (US company - ABC located in NJ).
At the immigration counter at the airport, I was asked who I work for (to which my reply was .. XYZ Indian Employer deputed at their client site ABC in NJ). I was taken to a separate room for further questioning where I was asked to provide proof that my H1B visa was indeed approved for me to work at the ABC client.
I only had my H1B Approved petition with me at the time (and not the XYZ Employer documentation which showed the same). They retained my passport and asked me to come back with proof within 2 weeks that I was authorized to work for XYZ at client site ABC. They stamped a "Paroled Until" stamp on my (now old) passport with NO details filled in (completely blank).
I obtained the necessary document from my Employer (XYZ) via mail and a week later went back to the airport to provide the proof. The officer there examined the papers, was satisfied and returned my passport after stamping it with the regular US immigration stamp (with that days date).
I am now ready to file for citizenship. Here are my questions:
1. Considering the above scenario, do I answer "Yes" to 'Have you ever been arrested, cited, detained by any law enf officer (including USCIS / former INS & and military officers) for any reason?"
2. What category would this fall under ? Cited or Detained ?
3. If I need to answer Yes, what should my written explanation include ? Passport stamps are the only proof I can attach - is there any thing else needed ? Anything else worth mentioning ?
Thanks for all your help !
