Dear all,
Please allow me to share my experience for the citizenship. I was applying based on 3 year rule. My husband is USC at birth.
Got married on 07/03/2006.
Green card started 11/29/2006.
DO: Portland, Oregon
09/20/2009 (Day 0) - Mailed N-400
10/03/2009 (Day 13) - Received N-400 Notice
10/09/2009 (Day 19) - Received Fingerprint Notice (Fingerprint day 10/23/2009)
10/23/2009 (Day 33) - Fingerprint taken
11/10/2009 (Day 51) - Received e-mail "This case has been sent for a standard interview"
11/23/2009 (Day 64) - Received Interview Letter
12/15/2009 (Day 86) - Interview and Oath day, also applied for passport book and card
It was a pouring rain day in Portland and we got stuck on the highway to go to the federal building where the interview was held. But we made there at 8:30 and found a 5-hour parking next to the building very easily.
I was called in right at 9 am. My interview officer is a very young lady. My husband took me to the interview place and the officer said to him that he can just wait at the waiting area since this interview will be done very quickly (and the interview only took 10 minutes). I was sworn to tell the truth when I was led to her office. The officer only asked for my Green card, Driver's license, and my passport (did not ask for an expired one). (No other document was asked for even though I brought all the utility bills, bank statements, house deed and etc.).
She started with the exam first and then went through the N-400. I was asked for 6 questions:
*Who wrote the declaration of independence?
*What is the supreme law of the land?
*What do we call the first 10 amendments to the Constitution?
*What are the 2 major political parties in the United States?
*What is the political party of the President now?
*There are 4 amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe 1 of them.
Then she went through N-400 with me. She asked if there is any change for the N-400 and I said no. She then looked at my travel time and said those travel times are all very short. (125 days out of United States for the past 5 years). We don't have kids and she only asked if we have any kid now since we filed N-400. I answered no. Then she asked what my husband's name is, and if we still live together. Then she went through the yes/no questions but not every single one. She gave me the approved letter and asked me to sign both of my photos, and the N-400. Finally she asked if I want to come back for a 2 pm Oath! Of course I did!
Good luck everyone! Thank you for all the help here!
