Folks,

Quick Qs - Is it ok to be outside of US after getting Finger Printing done but before the scheduled Interview date? I am planning to leave for about 3 weeks after getting my Finger printing done... Does anyone have similar experience?

Thanks

It's OK because usually there will be two months gap between the finger printing and the interview. So you can go on vacation without any problem. Just take care of the following:

- make sure that all the required documents are ready for the interview (if you will not have time before interview once you comeback)
- make sure that someone is watching your mail box when you are out of station. You cannot put mail on hold as your USCIS letters will not be delivered if you do so. You will get the interview letter (and probably yellow letter also) with interview date and time details.
- Call FBI number to make sure that your results were sent back to USCIS (which they do within 24 hrs. usually)

Thanks

What is the "Yellow Letter"?

S

It's called Case File Review letter (CFR) which will be sent to you after reviewing your case file (by some IO). Usually it lists the documents that one needs to be bring to the interview. Most of the times all it asks for is a valid driver's license/photo ID. It is called yellow letter because it's in yellow color.

In some cases, it may ask to bring the following:

- if there are expired passports bring them all
- if any continuous residence break issues, bring IRS letters, etc supporting documents

If your case is simple, then it will contain only driver's license.
