Postpone fingerprint by 3 months

hello
I have to be in India for emergency medical reasons. However i have already received my finger print notice for 8/13/2009. I am wondering if it would pose any problems to postpone my fingerprinting date by 3 months to November 2009?

Does the interview notice come independent of the fingerprint notice or
Would the interview date still come only after the fingerprinting date?

the form doesn't allow me to request a certain date, but I am hoping to send in a letter explaining my situation and ask for a date in November 2009. Do you know of others who have been successful in having their fingerprint notice date postponed by sending in a letter?

hopefully i am only out for 3 months, so this doesn't affect my continuous residency time period

MY timeline
app date: 7/10/2009
FP notice: 7/29/2009
FP interview Date: 8/13/2009
send letter to postpone FP date to November 2009.

realmcoy,

To postpone the fingerprint what you need to do is schedule an infopass and request for a new date at your District Office. Why don't you try a walkin? many menbers in this forum have done so successfully. The downside however for a walkin could be that you might have an interview scheduled shortly after. And as far as the residency requirement, the trip might affect you only if you've travelled extensively in the past and doesn't have the required 30 months in the US.

Hope this helps.

:)

i'm already outside the country

i am already outside the country,so walk-in is not possible for me.
I am wondering what could be the problems caused because of postponing the fingerprinting date?
everyone talks about problems because of postponing the interview date, but no-one talks about problems because of postponing the fingerprinting date. does that mean there is usually no problem seen with postponing the fingerprinting date?

I've read somewhere that interview date is typically 80-90 days from date of application independent of when fingerprinting is actually done. i applied on july 10th, that puts the interview date at october 10th. but if i postpone fingerprinting to November then I hope it doesn't cause problems with the interview.

reschedule fingerprint via

hello
reschedule fingerprint notice is done by sending in letter to local fingerprinting office as per the fingerprint notice letter that I received. nowhere in the fingerprint notice does it talk about infopass or uscis

you can pospone either the FP or the interview. The only consequence is a delay which won't bother you I guess.

Infopass is a quicker way to get it done. You are not in the country so don't worry about that.
