I'm a USC planning to apply for OCI at CGI NY. My USC kids will be traveling to India next week to start their schooling in Kerala. Can I apply for the their OCI in India? What is the procedure?

Are you also going to India with your kids? If not, it might be more convenient for you to apply in US. You can always collect their OCIs at your Indian consulate here without the presence of your kids.

The problem with this is that you'll have to get the kids' passports to US (while they are still in India), get their OCI visa stickers and then get the passports back to India for any future travel. Consulate will not deliver final OCI docs without actual passports being submitted.

Am in a same Quandry too. Checked with the Embassy and they said if you can get the passport here they will stamp it. Problem is Couriers do not mail passports from India and getting all the passports thru someone who is coming is risky because you never know how hectic their plans are while travelling and if misplaced that's the end of it........

The only option I am debating is to submit to FFRO in India, while I am here. But the big question is, Do they trouble there a lot for the process or is it as smooth as it is here? Can anyone share their experiences with FFRO in India?
