Did anybody get the (plastic ) Green Card in the last few days at all?

I got the physical GC for my father. The GC was approved May 28th and we got the card in mail on June 12th. So I guess its trickling.

Vinayak

...Dashmam tu Vinayakam: Congratulations !!!
We have been together in this since Certificate of Good Conduct was brought up. Very happy to hear that it is finally over for you.

One question: Did the online status change before you received the card in the mail stating Card mailed or anything similar?

What have you thought about Medical Insurance for your father?
In any case, please enjoy great times with your father.
May god bless you.

Thanks Vishnu.

I wasn't as happy when I received my GC as when I received my parents. They are back in India now and will be back in a couple of months. Haven't thought much about the medical process yet to be honest. One of my colleagues has gone for Medi-Cal for her parents. I will look into that. There are some threads on this forum devoted to that as well. I still have to go through them as well. Lets see how this one pans out.

Vinayak

We all know the printers are getting changed. I have never heard of such an operation in which a major national institution stalls the process to replace hardware.
Imagine a national bank stopping all the ATMs to replace them.
Something does not seem right.
Isn't everything hot swappable with little planning?
How can all the machines break at one time?

Any ways: Who on our forum got the green card in the month of June 2009 or May 2009?

The attempt is to find out if the GC deliveries have come to standstill or they are trickling. and then build a forecast when we get our's.

OK, mine is OCD case. :-)

I received my card on the 13th from California Service Center though i had filed at VSC and was transferred hope this helps.

Today, I got one more mail from CRIS as follows:

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Current Status: Card production ordered.

On June 15, 2009, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

The question because, we had received e-mail and on-line status of Card Production Ordered on June 3rd, already.

What is the meaning of the second message:
a) Card Mailed
b) Card is actually ordered now and wait begins again for 30 days.
c) Mom gets two cards , just in case ;-)

I am hoping for a) but experts and veterans who have crossed this Kazem can show us the light at almost the end of this tunnel.

All the best!!!

Thanks Vishnu.

Now that you have no pressure on GC account, let's know what great things you have planned for them.

Let me share my stuff ( in advance) too:

1) Niagara tickets are kept ready.
2) It's odd, but I do plan to take mom to Las Vegas. I will stay away from all the beauties but it still has many more things to show parents.
3) Already sold our Sedan and bought Honda Odessey for a lot of trips to parks all over.
4) Made a list of curries that my mom makes, best in the world. :-)
5) Local library for Hindi books.
Well and there are plenty of small things including get-together to felicitate Mom on her 60th B'day...

Now let's know your stuff. Some relief on this forum full of tense acronyms: NABC, CGC, 864A325G693...

My guess is that they ordered it the first time, then changed out the old card printing machine before yours was actually produced. So they re-ordered the card for printing with the new machine.

Today, I got one more mail from CRIS ...

I got an email too, saying card has been ordered as of June 12th. I guess the meaning is that they ordered again the printing. My application has been approved on May 1st. Those of you that got the card, was it the 10 years or the 2 years validity?

I hope you are joking, right?
You are creating a picture in front of me, that Green Card Printer is connected to adjudicating officer's PC, once he approves the case, he sends a print command which goes into the long print queue, alas , inbetween USCIS IT guy comes and knocks off the old printer and puts the new printer in place, connects power and data cabls etc. and all the old jobs in queue are vanished. So now, adjudicating officers have to go through their papers/list again and re-issue print card command from some lines. :-)

I pray, they have better method than this. Card Production facility will have better work order mgmt than that.

A good one nevertheless!!!

For parents it should be 10 years, for spouses it may be 2 years.

I am aware of that. I am waiting on the 10 years validity card, that's why I was asking people that got it already, maybe they received the 2 years validity which could get printed somewhere else, not affected by the delay?

Anyways, today I got a third email letting me know that the I485 was approved on June 16th (although the second email ordering the card was sent on June 12, and I have the I485 approval letter dated May 1st, so I have no clue what they are talking about, better said USCIS has no clue). What a mess, huh?

I agree with the principal of your verification. USCIS can bring up surprises, intentionally or otherwise.

drgeorge, vinayakk and some others have received GC recently. May be you can send them private message which pops up on their screen when they come to this forum. ( good feature actually)

I'm not joking. Their card production machinery and processes are very primitive and messy and inefficient. That's why they take 3-6 months to produce a replacement card and charge $370, whereas DOS can replace a passport in a couple of weeks for $20, and the DMV can do the same for a license at a similar cost in less time. That's also why they produce cards so many cards with mistakes, like wrong gender or wrong date of birth.

In short: "There is darkness under the lantern."

Well, in this case, I'm happy that they are getting new printers. I hope they dismantle the old ones properly and not outsource them for dismantling. :-)

Can you please put your timeline here for others to gain useful insight of the process?

When did you receive 485 approval and when did the message Card Production Ordered appear online.
