Permanent Resident Card Production Delays

USCIS is announcing that applicants may experience up to an eight week delay in the delivery of their permanent resident card while we are in the process of upgrading our card production equipment. USCIS Field Offices will be issuing temporary evidence of permanent residence in the form of an I-551 stamp to applicants approved for permanent residence at the time of their interview. You will need to take your passport to your appointment. If you do not have a passport, you must bring a passport style photo and government issued photo identification to receive temporary evidence of permanent residence.

If the application is approved subsequent to your interview or by a Service Center or the National Benefit Center, the applicant should bring the above documents to an INFOPASS appointment to be issued temporary evidence of permanent residence in the form of an I-551 stamp.

Thank you for the info.

That's very important for people going to interviews soon.

I have copied this to the March filers thread coz some are going next week.

I take that you haven't received your card as yet- after 4 weeks of approval.

No, not yet. The NOA says 3 weeks is the timeline, the USCIS website says 30 days. Which are up today, but I cannot go to the USCIS office today, so I will go next week, I scheduled an InfoPass.

Oh, and I just called (for fun, cause I knew what she was going to tell me), the lady at customer service read to me again what's on the website (that I already know anyway), and she told me that they have 30 days to mail the card, which expire today, and I should wait another 30 days for it to be delivered:) RIGHT:)

I already scheduled an InfoPass, so I'll go next week for the stamp.

If we wear our hat of die-hard positive thinker then: USCIS is making sure we get a fun-filled roller coaster ride. We will appreciate the Plastic Green Card even more now when we receive it eventually. Playing hard to get always increases the joy at the end, isn't it.
