Forgive me guys if this has been asked before. I just received my oath letter for oath on May 21st. I have a question regarding the items I need to bring me to the ceremony per the letter. The letter indicated I must bring the following items:
1) The letter of course
2) Green Card
Now these are the items I am not sure about since they do not apply to me
3) Reentry permit or Refugee Travel Document ?? I do not have either of those.
4) Any Immigration documents I may have. I am not sure what documents to bring ?? Do I need to bring the papers the I-130 papers I submitted for my wife?
5) If naturalization application is on behalf of your child, bring child with you.
I am not worried about since I do not have any children.

Are these items just standard items they ask for and you just bring what you have ?
Also, on oath date, how many people can attend the oath with me? can we take pictures?

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions :D

Ok sorry I can't help you with answers but I do have a question for you,

Where does the Oath letter come from? In other words what is the remitance address

is it your local district office or is it like the IL and Noa letter from Lee Sumit MO?

1) The letter of course - For sure
2) Green Card - For sure
3) Reentry permit or Refugee Travel Document ?? I do not have either of those. - If you only have one - which you don't. This is the most tricky one everyone confuses. Some people applies and receives this document if they want to travel outside to USA before they get their Green Card after they applied for it.
4) Any Immigration documents I may have. -No you don't.
5) If naturalization application is on behalf of your child, bring child with you.
-Correct -If You don't have any.

Also, on oath date, how many people can attend the oath with me? can we take pictures? No limit that I know but may depend on your location/city, however 2-3 is good enough.

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions :D[/QUOTE]

No worries, I live in Kansas City, MO and mine came from the Nebraska Service Center. It was mailed on April 22nd and I got it today. I called the USCIS customer service line last Monday and they told me it has been produced. Have you tried that?

Thank you immigrant. Back in 2000 before I got my green card, I had an advanced parole document but I no longer have it

Try to find it, this is more important then your city fine. If you cannot find then go local police station and file lost document report. Tell them you just found out recently you lost it. Try to get a written document that proofs you file a lost report to police. You may still don't need to disclose this but bring the police report with you. This document a legal USCIS document as your Green Card.

I will try and find it for sure. My lawyer might have a copy of it when she handled my green card case.

Mustafa,
Don't worry about finding the old AP. When I went to my oath I had my expired GC,EAD and APs. I asked the guy if I should turn them in and he said yes. They like to collect them so they don't fall in the wrong hands.
As soon as I sat down a newbie officer asked the guy in charge whether they should be collecting AP, EADs etc. The senior officer said... "only if they have them otherwise is no big deal" They will not ask for them, nor do they have your case infront of them to know what docs were issued to you. If you can't find it, don't worry about it.

I sat close to the officer during oath and out of 150 new citizens I was the only one to turn in anything more than just a valid GC.
Just my 2 cents.

I would tend to agree with AOS GUY. During our oath ceremony, the only thing they were stringent about collecting was the green card. Of the 40 people who were with us that day for the ceremony, virtually no one had anything except their green cards.

The IOs who are matching the naturalization certificates to the applicants are doing this in front of a DMV-style counter - the computers are not turned on, and as AOS GUY said, they have no idea what documents you were issued during your entire period as a non-immigrant / immigrant. The most important document for them is your green card and that is the one they focus on collecting.

I did not bring my AP paperwork and it was fine.

Thank you Newrunner and AOS_Guy ... I did not find a copy of the AP and some other documents I had. I am going to have them on me just incase but if I they do not ask for them, I am not going to bring them up for sure
