SSN After Green Card

Went to the social security office after receiving the green card to update them of the new status and also remove the restrictions wording on the SS card, but was notified by the person there that Dept. of Homeland Security still has the maiden name and not married name (Checked through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) system). She said that the new application will be sent to DHS for verification and it could take upto 6 weeks.

I am just wondering why they have not updated to married name yet on their SAVE database....but keep in mind that every piece of mail received from USCIS and not to mention the green card, EAD & AP all have the married name like it's supposed to. Is this a case of the different systems (databases) of USCIS not being in sync?

Thanks

Why would you think the SSA and USCIS databases are synced up? If it was the case then you wouldn't have to update your card...they would send you one automatically, no? When you change your name, you have to notify SSA. Now you have to go through the process and get it changed. 6 weeks is not bad though (unlike the long wait for a GC :))

Atleast you are still eligible to work until the new SS card arrives.

No, I don't expect the SSA & USCIS databases to be synced up at all....I am saying within DHS. USCIS sent everything with the correct name (married name) so you would think that the SAVE verification system (which is owned by DHS) which SSA uses to verify the immigration status would have the correct last name! Also, the first SS card that was received does have the married name, not maiden name, and that is from 4 months ago!
