I sent out my package by USPS priority mail. Maybe I made a mistake, instead of sending to the PO box, I used the real physical address "2501 S state Hwy 121, Bldg #4, Lewisville, TX 75067". The tracking message shows that USPS atempted to deliver on 11:30am today (Feb 6, 2009) but it seems nobody picks up the package so USPS left a notice. Is anything wrong? Does USCIS take Friday off? It really makes me nervious. I almost think I may have written the wrong address although I have checked many times before hand to USPS.

Does anybody have the same experience today? Please share. Thanks.

Samantha

I think I screwed up by USCIS and USPS

WBH, thank you for your reply.

Today I just called USPS, they said since it was a priority mail, USPS only left a notice to instruct the receiptance to decide when to pick up or reschedule a delivery. It will stay in the post office for 15 days then if there is no action from receiptance, the package will be returned. I think I'm totally screwed by the two unreliable goverment agencies, how could it be possible that nobody receives the mails? I think that's their only job, right.

My suggestion for the folks who is going to file N-400: for the important documents, don't try to save some money on post office. Use express mail, or other carrier.

If the USCIS P.O box is located inside the USOS office, then P.O. Box
is the best place to send to. SInce USCIS will send soemoen to the USPS
mailbox anyway, even if the USCIS person seea note, he can always use
a note to pick up the mail since he is already in the USPS. But if the USCIS
get a pickup note at their street address, I believe they should take that
note and go to USPS to get delievery anyway.

I sent my package using USPS Express mail to the Texas street address but
the address used in the confmirmation slip was that P.O Box address. My
guess is that USPS left a pickup note at the street address. USCIS picked
up the note and gave it to teh person they dispatched to pick up mails at the P.O.
Box which is located at the USPS office. The guy went to USPS to get those mail
in the USCIS P.O Box but also pick up mails with pickup notes receied at their street address

Thank you. I hope that is the case. However, it seems my package is still not delivered or picked up after 4 days. Maybe I am not patient, but sometime you simply cannot believe them.

Maybe USCIS only send a runner to USPS once a week to pickup mails
(from P.O Box and other mails for which a note is left). I myselg got
lucky because the note for my package was delivered the day before
the day they routinely make a weekly visit tot USPS. If my speculation were
right, it meant they routinely pick up the mail from USPS Tuesday (since my RD is
Tuesday) which is today. So check your delievry status this night or early morning tomorrow.

Take it easy, I was in the same situation and pissed off at USPS. I mailed mine on Saturday and was hoping for it to be delivered on Monday.

Until that wednesday I was getting this same message " A notice is left..." so I called USPS and asked them whats going on? they said Bla bla bla....we cant deliver until someone pick it up since I requested Signature confirmation!
I asked them to send it back, listen to this, "We cant! you have to wait 5 more days. If no one picks it up we will"

I called the post office in TX that deals with USCIS, and a very friendly guy told me that they come and pick up mail twice every day.

I called around 11 that Wednesday morning, and guess what happened later that day. I tried to track it on USPS site and it said "your package was picked up at 7:30 this morning...."

it took them 8 hours to update the tracking status. My suggestion is CHILL :D

Unless you are mailing original documents such as birth certificates to the USCIS (which you shouldn't be), or the mailing is time sensitive (H1B application or RFE response for example), you are much better off just using USPS Certified Mail with no extra options to the PO Box address. You can confirm delivery through the USPS website and you don't need to worry about anyone having to actually sign for the packet. It is also the cheapest option.

Thank you guys. I think my package has been delivered. Strangely though it was delivered at 1:17am on Friday. Were they working so hard? I seriouly doubt it. USPS updated the tracking information after 4 days, but with some typo.

I guess patience is what we need.
