Hello,
My LUD was 9/26/08 with the approval message. Today I see a LUD 9/29/08, but with same message. Does it mean anything?
I did call customer servive on 9/29/08 to confirm my approval (I did not receive my hard copy, and I was impatient). Do they give LUD every time you call?
Please advice, Thank you.

A LUD after approval is for 'mail sent out". There is typically 1 or 2 LUD's after approvals.

Thank you Nightsman for your response. I was a bit worried as no one was responding.
Did you get soft LUDs (more than 1) after your 140 approval?
Thank you,

Yes - 2 after I-140 and 1 after I-485. That is normal. As I said it is internal system processing (the machine now printed the sheet, the machine now put it into the outgoing mail!, things like that).

meaning of updates

Hi guys, wishing u all gl with upcoming holidays (and of course, wishing the best for already gone thanksgiving). I may be inpatient, but reading thru the posts above it seems like 'two updates' generally means approval'. Can this predict RFE too (means do u u get less than or more than 2 updates with RFE). I have just seen 2 updates on pending EB1A-I 140 petition on USCIS website (first on 11/30/3008 and second of 12/01/2008). Although message still remain unchanged saying 'case received and pending'. Wanted to mention this in the background, that although my EB2-NIW case had been approved more than 2 months back (see signature below), and I and my lawyer both have received the paper confirmation of approval (there was simultaneous update on USCIS) ; message still remain unchanged saying 'case received and pending' till to date. With all this, I am presuming (or probably dreaming) that my EB1A case has been approved too and I should be expecting a paper confirmation in coming week, :D Right?? Please enlighten the issue with ur experience guys/gals. Gl all with ur gc journey.
:):D

Nobody knows what LUDs may signify until after there is a status update. The website trackitt.com is the place where people love to speculate about LUDs and their meanings (and they are all guesses by impatient people). Don't think too much about this, just be a little more patient. We've all been through this.

just to update the forum,
there was a new update on my EB1B (see signature for details) on 01/01/2009 and on 01/03/2009, received email from USCIS saying my EB1A petition approved. Plz note, second update was just 1 month later from the previous one. I read in some other forum (and that can be a guess too) that a update with no result (or any message on Uscis website saying so) will usually follow with a second update in next 30-90 days WITH A MESSAGE (like RFE or approval or denial). In conclusion, my guess is that any LUD change usually mean either of below:
1. Your file has been opened up for a review and decision is not yet made.
2. Your file has been reviewed and a decision notice will follow (denial/approval/RFE)
3. A simple yearly software check was made and your file was found in pending state (it was a machine check that resulted in LUD change and not a human beings check)

I hope this clarify the murky meaning of LUD updates (with no message change online)
