About Confirmation Number

My Friends,
I registered for me, my father and my mother today and I got our Confirmation Numbers and there is a Question:

All of the Confirmation Numbers are like this: 2010145xxxxxxxxx
2010 means DV-2010! then what is 145? whom got their Numbers then does your number have 145 too? about the last 9 character after 145 I think they are totally random because all of them are different from each other in my series!

Did you ever think that for the last year 9.1 Million person registered the Lottery in 60 days. when you calculate then you can see every 1 second 1.7 person and every minute 103 person registered!

I don't think the confirmation number is irrelevant since the going to randomized the winning number anyway. It could mean anything, not necessary the number of applicants who registered for the DV. It could be sequential number or coding number based on that person's DOB, POB, etc. It could be use to easily search a computing database. For example, 145 could mean the country of eligibilty, while the other numbers could mean the rest of the information of that person. Then again, it could be the number of applicants, but I doubt that they are getting hundreds of millions of applicants in one week after the DV2010 is open.

It is highly possible that 9.1 million person registered the lottery in 60 days. Just imagine how many people in the world who are qualified for the DV and how many of them are registering for the DV. It would be a lot of people...

By the way, do you know that if you registered your parents and one of them won the DV lottery next year, their children, who are 21 years old or older, would not be included in the winning? Just to let you know, because I was about to registered my parents couple of years ago, and I realized that my parents doesn't want to move to the U.S if he or she won the DV. Furthermore, even if they win the DV, I won't be included as part of their winning.

Thank you for your comment.
Yes I know the rules. My parents want to go to US and I am over 21! Then we must register separately! :D

Mine is not.

If the confirmation number is all that's required to view the status online next year, then these numbers must not be continuous since you wouldn't want to be able for people to "guess" such numbers to view the status information.
