I need help from the collective intellect on how to requesting a certified court record of an arrest? The CIS letter says: "Please obtain court documents for your arrest MONTH, XX, XXXX CITY. If no record is available, submit a certified letter from the court." The city is in a different state. Is it the same as contacting a police department and requesting a certified rap sheet? Any ideas are welcomed.

cheers.

You will need to go to the Clerk of Court (Criminal Devision) to request the certified copy of record of specific case. It normally has few dollars of cost that associated with the request. In most of case, it is don't right away while you are waiting. In some place, you will have to call ahead and pick up late.

Thanks a lot for your answer. What if the city I need a certified court record from is in the other state? Can it be done over a regular mail? Any idea how to look up an address or a phone number? The city is Chicago.

Cheers.

OK, I got the general idea, thanks. Another question, do I contact the Clerk of Court for the county where the city is located?

Cheers.
