Urgent Pls,Citizenship Interview,Question Regarding N-400 part 9

Hi All,

My Citizenship Interview is scheduled on May 19th.My son U.S citizen
went to India six months back and staying with his grandparents. He
will be back in 2 months.I filled the N-400 form part9(Information
about children),kids address section as withme.

In Interview,If they ask about my kid what can I say? My kid was in
India,while I filed the application.still I filled the kids address
section as with me.Because,If I fill in the address out of the states,
accordingly to M-476 (guide), If you have a dependent spouse or
children who do not live with you, send:
- Any court or government order to provide financial support: and
- Evidence of your financial support (including evidence that you have
complied with any court or government order), such as....
But I don't have any document. It sounds like that applies to the
child lives with ex-spouse or something like that. But that doesn't
apply here.

Will it create any problem?
If any body has the similar situation,pls let me know your experiences.
pls give me any advice how to give the convincing answer about my son
out of country stay.

Dear, you worry toooooooooooooooo much; I have a similar situation; just put his/her US address (your address) and if they ask then let them know that he's visiting his/her Grandparents right now. Don't be volunteer to spit out any info to IO until he/she asks for. If they want that address then provide them his/her Indian address (it's most unlikely)...

My son is just 2 yrs old. Is it convincing answer,saying like he is visiting grand parents for his age.

Basically, DO/IO go over and review/update all the info with you in the application and also make corrections in it as per their thinkin.g Even two DO/IO could interpret the same question differently so don't worry on all these inconsequential details. Do the necessary preparation for the test and represent yourself like a good guy and you would definitely get it. GoodLuck!

Hi vij1026,
Not related to N400 but we do share some similarities here. Your case might be little different then mine and by no means to judge you or your circumstances. But, man, you are letting the best time of your life go by not having 2 years old son with you. I have a 2 years old son and by no means his being around me will replace anything in the world - incuding N400. I wish you get to be with your son as soon as you can. Have fun with your son, with your family.

You are absolutely true. Being with a 2 yrs kid will not be replaced by any thing in the world.

As long as you have custoday of your child and he lives abroad with your permission you should be fine. Ignore the people who give advice on how to lead your life. While an ideal situation is that we all live perfect lives, we cannot understand how other people are constrained by circumstances. Don't bring up the child issue unless the IO asks.
