Marriage in Bulgaria, followed by a baby. Now what?

Hi! I am soon expecting a baby from an american citizen (the middle of June). My fiance is coming to Bulgaria to marry me (hopefully before the birth of our child). He can only stay in BG for 3 months and then he has to go back to the states. I called the embassy here and they told me I cannot leave with him. He has to go back without me and fill up a document that says he want me and our baby to live with him in the US.
I want to be with him and I don't want our baby to grow up away from its father. But I have no idea what to do. Please, help me!

Your fiance has two options:-
i. Sponsor you for a K-1 (fiance) visa, and once that is approved, you can come to the US where you must get married within 90 days. After that, he sponsors you for your conditional GC. (I-130/I-485/...)

ii. You get married in Bulgaria, he goes back to the US and files an I-130 to start the immigration process. He can then either file an I-129F for a K-3 (spouse) visa, or wait until you've completed consular processing and been issued a DS-230 immigrant visa. (There are more steps involved, but thats the basic outline).

It is a lot more than just "fill up a document". You have to go through the whole immigration process to get a green card, with him sponsoring you. You will have to get interviewed, give fingerprints, give blood for testing, and he will have to provide evidence of his financial ability to support you. It will take some 6-12 of months of that processing for you to be able to move to the US.

For more details on the K-1 and K-3 visas, read postings in the Family-Based Green Cards section of this web site.
