Address Change - wife and hubby in separate cities for job reason

Guys,
I filed at Boise, Idaho- DO as my signature shows. Then I got laid off and now I am working in Denver. Trouble is that wife is in University in Boise and can not move with me for 6 or so months. So she is living with her mom now. I went and spoke to Boise DO officer and he suggested that I should make my new mailing address as her address by putting her in C/O. I am not sure if this is right thing to do as I am in different city. Also not sure where our interview will take place either. What do you guys think I should do? Please advise....

I would maintain Boise, Idaho address and not make a mistake of changing DO's at this time, keeping in mind your wife is still in Boise. If your wife will be in Boise for a while, I would suggest to stick with Boise Idaho DO. You can keep Boise address as your primary address and think of Denver residency as temporary for now till you get your immigration paperwork sorted out.
 
Thanks for advise. I failed to mention that wife does not live in the same house in Boise.....she went back to live with her mom (Did not wanted to be alone) and we converted our house as a rental.....I went ahead and changed her address...Please note that wife and her mom owns that home While I and wife owns the house which we converted into rental....... Also, I wonder what would happen if they ask me for employment proof....At that time they would know that I am working in Denver...Has anyone dealt with situation like this? Please pitch in....

Yes, it's me.......maintaining 2 residences....one in Atlanta and one in Boston. Just coz I am working on a project here in Boston doesn't mean that I will give up my Atlanta residence and create more delays by changing addresses. It will give USCIS one more excuse to delay the case. I understand that you have taken a full time perm position in Denver (correct me if I am wrong), but it doesn't bother USCIS coz you can always tell them that you are in the middle of moving and still trying to adjust with your new job and will relocate completely once your wife finishes her school. Have you wriiten your new Denver address somewhere in your application or have you officially changed your Driv license & stuff? You can always tell the officer that you live in Idaho but work in Denver, why do they care?

They do care, because they like to stick their big noses into everybody's bizniz.

Don't play games with this just to save a few months. Be straightforward and honest, or you could get denied. When you are called for an interview they will ask in detail about your work and residence again. Unless you expect to be back in Idaho with your wife by then, you should consider Denver to be your new residence.
 
Yes...I have taken full time position in Denver. And Yes, an USCIS officer told me to keep Boise as C/O address. And yes, I agree that they will care...
Question is, what will be my DO if I change Denver add? Boise or Denver? Me being here and she in Boise, How does USCIS decide? I would prefer Boise DO as it is smaller and I know officers there.....Please note that I have not mention any address change info to USCIS yet

This is not complicated at all. You are not lying or hiding anything from the officer. If you have a residence in Idaho and you got a job in Denver, what's the big deal here. Can you not stay in a hotel in Denver or rent a temp apt in Denver. Yes, you sure can and still keep and maintain their Idaho address. I have been working in Alabama for over a year. First of all the officer never asked me about my employment and I had clearly written that I was working in Alabama when I applied for N-400. It was never an issue. I even told him on the day of the interview in Atlanta DO that it has been a long day as I have to drive back to Alabama after the oath ceremony as I have to return back to work the next day. Does that tell you anything?

Another friend of mine is waiting for his interview in Atlanta. Now check his story out. He will be moving to TX in about a months time. Will keep his family and kids in Atlanta and work in TX. Once his wife receives an interview letter for him, he will come back to Atlanta and take care of his citizenship interview/oath. Just coz he is working in TX, he doesn't have to change addresses. It is his choice to live wherever he wants and work wherever he likes........get it?

Done explaining you lintas1. The more you listen, the more confused you will get. Ofcourse the final call is yours. It seems like what I told you earlier is not making sense to you and you are waiting for someone to tell or give you an answer.....that probably you like to hear.

In the end, do what your heart says, coz in the end it's you who will have to deal with whatever the outcome may be.

Its not that I dont believe you Atlanta brother, but your case was for Naturalization which is kinda different from getting GC. Thats why I am seeking additional opinions....Please dont get offended....

Not getting offended at all :) Yes, it was naturalization case back then but what about now? I am in the same situation as yours. Have applied for my wife's GC in January and her GC paperwork is in process and pending. I am working in Boston and she is in Atlanta since we claim Atlanta to be our perm place/residence. She and kids visit me in Boston time to time but our DO is still Atlanta office even though I have an apt here and working here in Boston. Something to think about.
 
Cases of different addresses are common (especially due to work, health issues, sick parents, studies, etc.) and yes, is not major problem once you can show that you still have a marital union.
