Can I send the marriage certificate that I just got from the Clerk's office? They said is good for 90 days and I will be receiving the permanent one in 6 weeks.

do I have to wait until the permanent one arrive or can I send the one that expire in 90 days.

thanks

Does it have a dry or golden stamped seal? does it have the date and signature of the register/probate judge? does it say "marriage certificate" on top. Is it a certified copy? then yes, you can use that one. I do not know what they are talking about waiting 6 weeks.

I too received a temporary one when we got married at town hall. And no, it did not have a golden stamped seal, just the marriage officer's signature. I waited about 2 weeks for it to arrive in the mail, then we filed AOS. It was frustrating because it was the last thing we were waiting for in order to file.

Thanks for the answer.

The clerk person gave us a Marriage license that say that is good for 90 days.We need to go back for the ceremony in the next 90 days and then they will send us the original and final Marriage license. If we pay extra for mailing we can get in 4 weeks after the ceremony. If not then is going to take 6 weeks.

Do you know then if We can send the one that is good for 90 days and then later to send the permanent one?

Ah I see, the document you have is a marriage certificate, which is not a marriage license. It is just a document that your priest, rabbi or marriage officer will need to fill out, along with 2 witnesses. Then they need to send it to the town clerk, which will then put it in for a marriage license

Edit: BTW, that 90 day thing theyre referring to is your window to get married. You will need to get a new certificate if you dont get married within 90 days.

Thanks Jano.

The only thing that made me confuse is that at the top of the document say

"License and Certificate of marriage"

So, Do we have a license or do we have only a certificate?

You got it mixed up. He has a marriage license... not a certificate.

You got a license. Get married within 90 days and you will bring that license back to where you got it, then you can get a certificate.

You could always just get married by the probate judge and perhaps get it right then?

Yeah you're right Praetorian, I got the 2 mixed up. The license is what you need to get prior to the certificate... duh on me!

This is quite funny since I just went through this also. I can't help thinking about the price difference between the town hall marriage ($30) that I had in January, to the big wedding I'm having in April ($25k).
