Citizenship - Need expert advise on a relocation situation (Saint Louis to Dallas)

citizenship???

New Member
I am currently in Saint Louis and looking to move to Dallas. I plan to put my house on sale in April but considering that the housing market is down, I am not sure if my house will get sold this year. Going by the 4 years and 9 months rule I will be eligible to apply for my citizenship on March 30, 08. Do you think I should apply for citizenship on March 30th or should I wait till my house is sold and I move to Dallas?

If I move to Dallas while my citizenship application is in process, what are the ramifications? Will I be able to transfer my file to Dallas and how long will it take? Thanks in advance for your advise!

If ur relocating, your DO (and maybe SC) changes, so suggestion is to wait.

You can transfer files etc but it could take a long time if it gets stuck.

Firstly, be aware that its "5 years less 90 days", which is quite different from 4yrs 9 months.

Secondly, any time you move districts while an application is in-process, you incur a minimum of 3 months delay, and often quite a bit longer. Your choice, however in the current USCIS climate of extended processing times, I think I'd get started as soon as possible.

Thanks for your advise! Seems like it is better to apply as soon as possible. That way I won't have any regrets if our house does not sell this year. If the house sells and I move to Dallas, it seems like I will loose about 3 months which is still better than just waiting out the next few months.

My green card date is June 30, 2003. So, I can apply past April 1, 2008 correct?
