TN Visa Renewal Please help

I have a few question
1) My Visa expires on Jan 8th can i go on dec 15th lets say? If my TN Visa get expired can i still come back to the US to pick up my stuff?

2) last year i paid 2500$ to get a lawyer this year i am doing this stuff on my own.

Question is What exactly do i need to get TN Visa Renewal?

Degrees
TN Employment letter
i-129? ( i couldn't remember for the love of god what this is but do i need this and can someone please point out where it is located?

-- U r renewing 3 weeks before the expiry of your current status, Shouldn't be a problem.

If my TN Visa get expired can i still come back to the US to pick up my stuff?

-- It is advisable not to try this out. The decision to allow you or not is entirely upto the officer at the POE.

-- If you are applying for TN at the POE, then you do not need I-129 form. All you need is a TN letter, degrees and US$56 fee (for land POE and $50.00 for the airport POE). Google I-129 and you will see what it is.
