Finally the moment/day has arrived for us !!!! I checked the status online and there you go, to my utter surprise, I see an LUD of today - 11/19/2007 on our (me and wife) I485 cases. Opened it with my heart pounding faster and could not believe my eyes ----- It said ....................

"Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident"

Guys, finally the long struggle is over....and am sure many of us will see their approvals also very soon and wish all of you the very best !!!!!!

We did not get any LUDs on I485 after the FP (08/28/2007) . Also, no emails about the approval from cris.

Please see the details below.

Congratulations. Your approval rekindles our hopes and rejuvenates many unconfirmed theories.

Enjoy the freedom (and dont come up in a few days with a new thread called "when can I change my job" - just joking.. kudos..)

EB India is 2002 how come 2004 is approved. Don't get me wrong i am very happy for you and it seems good that they are approving cases beyod priority dates cut- off.

2002 from Dec 01, 2007. Till then 2004.

BTW, I guess (only guess) that when an application is "tagged" - meaning a visa number request made to DOS, request processed and number assigned to the application - dates in VB do not matter. For example, my PD is 02/04. If my application were tagged before Dec 01, 2007, I would get my GC anytime after Dec 01, 2007 even when dates are retrogressed.

Again, this is one of my "guess-theory", which in most cases is based on my optimistic thinking.

Best.

gsWudBeHere,

How do you find out that your application is tagged and a visa number has been assigned? Is it guess work or would the IO tell you if you call?

Thanks.

That's a good question, in fact.

One could ask the IO whether the application has been assigned a visa number. Although, the chances of IO revealing this info are slim-to-none, one could still get a little more info about the processing pipeline of a GC. If IO rejects outright to give any info in this regard, then we would gain nothing. However, we would benefit if IO spills any thing extra like "yes", "no", or something.

Remember the VB says that for India 38% of the numbers have been used - what does 38% mean? Does it mean 38% of annual quota has been converted to green cards OR 38% of annual quota has been assigned for converting to green cards (meaning tagged)

Looking at sachshilgc details, I believe he was assigned a number a while ago (when DOS accepted the request) and is approved now after CIS completed other formalities.

Again, all guess work.

But, it would help if someone could ask IO whether a visa number has been assigned for his case and see what response he gets.

Want to try?

Best.

Probably :)

Let me try before Thanksgiving. The other good thing is the Nov 14 processing times says 6 months for I485. Hopefully we are pretty close.

I again contacted IO yesterday at NSC and she told me that every thing looks good and cleared and it is waiting for visas for getting approved. She told me that they are processing dec.2006 cases and I have to wait for 6 months to get my GC, since my I485 filing date is June 2007.
I am worried that since, EB2 has retrogressed to 2002 for India, What will be my chance of getting a visa in near future?
Just having my fingers crossed.

The IO told that my case is WAITING FOR VISAS. As gcWudBeHere predictions, may be the USCIS, is requesting visas from DOS.
May be I will try one more time calling NSC and ask for details sometime next week.

H&ll with IOs who are always over-cautious, over-pretentious and over-polite, which only mask reality. Remember we are replying to a thread "Finally day has arrived" by sachshilgc who applied for 485 during the tail end of June and approved mid november. The whole process took between 4 and 5 months. His case may be out of norm, but the point I like to highlight is that statements that IOs make have always to be weighed with the info that one gets from forums such as these. We get info that can relied on from forums such as these.

Anyway, you must to too close to be called gc-holder. good luck.

Could you pls let me know what method did you use to reach and IO at NSC. I see in this form POJ method for contacting TSC IO. I would appreciate if you could let me know how you contacted NSC.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

POJ is same for NSC and TSC. Your Receipt number is the distinguishing factor that directs your call to the relevant center.
