I m green card holder (Green card valid until 2010) and have applied for US Citizenship. I have passed the US Citizenship exam and waiting for Naturalization Oath Ceremony.

Can I travel outside the country while my US Citizenship status is pending and waiting for Naturalization Oath Ceremony? If so, do I need take any re-entry permit and show to the immigration officer while entering back to US airport?

Please advice. I am planning to travel in next 2 week for duration of 4 weeks.

Thank you,

You can travel. Just don't miss your oath ceremony should the notice come while you're away:-)

At the back of the oath letter, there is a checkbox you need to check if you had traveled outside the US since your interview.

Oath scheduling is done locally so even if you miss it, it should not be a big problem. The right thing would have been to let your IO know during the interview itself.

I note that this is your first post. Welcome to the board! Do you want to provide your experience and time line for the benefit of others who are yet to reach the interview stage?

thanks.

Have someone check your mail for you while you are out of the country.

Usually USCIS tries to send out oath notices at least 4 weeks prior to the ceremony, so theoretically you shouldn't miss the appointment unless it arrives just before you depart. If that does happen, simply write to the DO and request to be rescheduled.

As an FYI, I received my oath letter 8 days before the actual ceremony so YMMV.
