I just talked to a Friend I met online years back over IM and she informed me that she had her Interview on Friday and that the IO had ask her some odd questions. She was ask what she thought about Abortion. She was ask whether she is a Republican or a Democrat. She was ask why she wanted to become a citizen and if she is going to become one if she would vote in the 2008 election. There were a few more questions and my Friend told the IO that she didn't think this was relevant to pass this interview so the IO grabbed all the Papers of the desk and lead her out of the Office. She didn't get a letter of approval and the IO just told her you will be hearing from us and she was sent her way.
I am not the smartest cookie on this Board but doesn't that sounds weird and fishy ?

Unbelievable

Ladybuggy,

This is so ridiculous. I would talk to an attorney about all this and instead of keeping it quiet, would take it to the next level.

That is what I told her. She just does not have the money to hire an attorney and I just told her I would go on here and ask around what can be done.
I was 99.9% sure that this is not right but since I myself haven't gotten through most of the procedures yet and I am not very familiar with Immigration and Naturalazion Laws I thought I would give it a shot just for her.
She is just so devistated. She is like many others waiting for this for quite some time and was so exatic when she got her Interview Notice and after she left she was just so crushed.

I don't blame her. Where is your friend ? I mean what city / state ?

I know she is in TX, since we met online and don't know each other from person to person (face to face) we don't go into city details but like I said I do know she is from TX

Pardon me, but I am really sceptical about this. Americans never discuss Abortion and politics. For that to come from an officer of USCIS is a bit hard to believe. Even assuming I was asked about this, I would have answered it diplomatically and not shot back that the quesiton is not relevant to the interview.

I remember a year or so ago, there was a lady who went on to discuss that it was against her religious beliefs to go and take up arms and so she was not prepared to defend the US if the need should arise. Needless to say the officer said OK and made a note. That lady then got scared a few days later and wanted to change her stand. Sometimes one needs to be pragmatic and face the situation to get one's outcome. Not make statements that lead to a negative consequence.
