I am hoping that I get my AP by Dec and get to go home after X'mas. For those who have used AP to come back in, can you tell me how it works? Do I need to bring every little document from the past - I20s, H1B, F1, AOS paper etc.

Last time I came in, I used my first H1B Visa which expired in 2006. I had it renewed till 2009 but never left the country so I have no actual Visa.

What do you have to do at the immigration when you arrive US? Do they check your paper throughly and stamp something? What is the actual AP look like? Is that a piece of paper?

Thank you. It just helps to prepare in my head.

----> AP documents, EAD and copy of receipt notice of I-485. It is also better to carry a copy of I-140 approval, your previous H1B and F1 as well if you have.

----> Fill up the I-94 form and they will check your AP documents, which would take sometime. Then, they stamp your AP document and return the documents to you. That's it.
