I-130 approval notice

Hi all,

I just received this I-130 approval notice for my wife in the mail today. The case was filed back in early 2004 at TX center but the letter (approval notice) was generated from CA center. Now, how long does she have before she gets her GC & become a perm resident.

Secondly, if all goes well I should God willing become a citizen too in about a months time, In that case I can send a copy of this approval notice along with 485 form & other required documents, isn't it. If I do that, how much time frame we're looking at for her to get her GC.

B4 I forget, I live in Atlanta, GA.

Please respond back.

Thanks a bunch.

Atlanta_Brother, does the approval notice say that your case is sent to NVC (National Visa Center)? If so that is very good for you. You will not need to deal with USCIS. You will just need to contact NVC to let them know to send your wife's file to the US consulate in the country your wife is currently living.

brb2,

It doesn't talk about NVC. On the other hand, my wife is here in US, so how will we move with that. Let me know what your thoughts are on that.

Thanks again.

Until you become a USC, your wife's application will remain in F2A category. Current priority dates for F2A range between May '02 thru Nov '02 depending on changeability area. Even though her I-130 has been approved, you could not submit an I-485 until either you get your natz or the visa bulletin says she is current. Once that happens, its probably 6 months of processing, assuming she doesn't get stuck in namecheck.
