Can someone please explain this AP thing to me...?

My PD is 03/2002, Rest of the world. I-140 approved in 2004. My case was transferred from VSC to TSC back in Februrary of this year.

I've had number of EADs and APs, current one expires this month.

Mid July I submitted a renewal (AP) for my family to TSC before the fees went up. Week later received the notices and everything seems fine.

Today I got the following letter by mail (for myself and spouse, not for minors in the family). Sit tight before you continue reading

Notice of Intent to Deny

This office is unable to complete the processing of your application without further information. Please read and comply with the following request. Submit the requested evidence to the above address (TSC). The documentation should be attached together with the gold sheet on top. Failure to reply within 30 days may result in the denial of your petition

Please submit proof that you have submitted an underlying petition such as an I-140 (Immigration Petition for Alien Worker), I-360 (Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), Special Immigrant) or I-526 (Immigration Petition by Alien Enterpreneur). If you are the derivative, pleaseprovide proof of the underlying petition (I-140, I-360 orI-526) for the Principle applicant

Sincerely,

David L. Roark, Director

Now, tell me something....am I dreaming here or what? Are you telling me that the USCIS cannot, or does not wish to, log on to a freaking computer and see that I am I-140 approved for over three years, and I-485 pending for as long...? Can they not see that I was approved AP few times already in the past? Can they not look at the supporting evidence that I submitted with the application, which is a copy of our I-94 which specifically shows that we entered with AP...?
I mean, what the heck is going on here? What kind of people are running this show? Why do we even want to become part of these stupidity? I mean, seriously....what in the world is happening here?

Other than that, can some tell me what in the world is "gold sheet"...?

Thank you.

I have got a similar RFE for our AP renewal, however I donot know the exact wordings in the RFE, since my lawyer received it and said it was for submitting the approved I 140 of the primary applicant, for approving the dependant's application. The funny part in my case is the primary applicants renewal AP got approved within no time, and the dependant got this RFE. We have been waiting for the approval since more than 4 months after responding to this RFE. We had also renewed our EAD and AP several times in the past few years, and this happened to us after the case got transfered to TSC.

Yes, both of us received it, myself (primary) and dependent who obviously does not have I-140...
This is unreal. No wonder the entire world sees the US as a big joke.

Faced same situation/identical letter received for derivative's AP (4th one). Gold sheet is the letter that USCIS sends for RFE (it is yellow in color). After responding, status changed to 'RFE received...resumed processing'. Meanwhile I-485 got approved within the next two days!...And AP is still pending, which I guess would be denied now since 485 has been approved... Go figure!
