I want to make sure we're well prepared for our interview on Wed, August 22nd. Here are the documents I've put together to take with us. Can you guys tell me if I'm missing anything?

Proof of his US citizenship:
* Husband's birth certificate (original and copy)
* Husband's passport (original and copy of bio page)
* Husband SSN card (original and copy)
* Drivers license (original and copy)

Affidavit of Support:
* Husband's pay stubs from work (original and copies)
* Tax return copies for 2004, 2005, 2006 (joint filing) for both my husband and myself

Proof of legal stay in US:
* My birth certificate (original and copy)
* My I-20 from college (original and copy)
* My OPT EAD Card (original and copy)
* My H1-B approval notices (originals and copies)
* My passport (both old (expired) and new) (originals and copies of relevant pages)
* My transcript from college (original and copy)
* My degree certificate (original and copy)
* My pay stubs from work (originals and copy)
* My drivers license (original and copy)

Proof of Marriage:
* Jointly filed tax return 2006
* Warranty Deed for house (from 2004, both original and copy)
* Photos of our wedding and reception
* A few photos from the past few years at family functions, etc (hard to find photos of us together, usually we are taking photos of each other)
* Wedding and reception DVD
* Utility bill in my husband's name at our house
* Cable bill in my name at our house
* Beneficiary information for life insurance, etc for both my husband and me
* Car insurance cards showing each other as allowed drivers

Is there anything else I should add to this list. I think it's complete, except for my lost SSN card. I read through the interview guideline document, and there was one question about "what is your wife's full name" and it said to give your wife's name with your last name. Well, I opted not to take my husband's last name. Is this going to be problem? I don't think it should be, but since the interview is subjective, I wondered if this would raise eyebrows.

Thanks for your help.

Preethav:

You may be way too prepared. I was shocked 'cause I only was asked for our Passports, our child's BC and our Bank Statements, also my I-94.
So, don't worry too much, sometimes the IO have so many cases per day, that they already know which case is going to be approved ahead of time.

Good Luck

That looks very good prepared! Good luck. I've been reading in this forum, people take as "Proof or marriage" affidavits from your parents or close friends that states that your marriage is real.

See attached file for a template you or somebody else can use.

Again good luck.

you look prepared, it is good that you guys filed joint tax income... that will take care of the financial mingling they required,,,, since i did not see a joint bank account info.
But in any case you seem to have enough burden of bonafide marriage.. so GOOD LUCK, and remeber to post how u're interview went in details when you come back......lol.

Also remember:

(1) Don't lie
(2) Don't guess...."I don't know" or "I don't remember" are acceptable answers
(3) Don't volunteer any information not asked for
(4) Short and simple answers
(5) Relax

Is the marriage affidavit mandatory?

Is the marriage affidavit mandatory?

It is not mandatory, but it is an extra proof of your bona-fide marriage. I believe it's a godo idea to do it in order to have sufficient proofs or more than they required. (mejor que sobre y que no falte). Also, as you can see is a paper you can do by yourself and get it sign by whoever is affidaving and notarized for 5 or 10 dollars.:D That will not hurt!:)
